What are Open Graph Tags?

Open Graph (OG) tags are meta tags that control how your content appears when shared on social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and others.

Essential Tags

og:title	Headline	50-60 characters
og:description	Summary	150-160 characters
og:image	Preview image	1200×630px, absolute URL
og:url	Canonical URL	Full URL with https://

Twitter-Specific Tags

Twitter uses its own card system. If Twitter tags aren't set, it falls back to OG tags.

• twitter:card — summary_large_image for big images
• twitter:title — Optional if og:title is set
• twitter:description — Optional if og:description is set

Image Best Practices

• Size: 1200×630px (1.91:1 ratio) works on all platforms
• Format: JPG or PNG under 5MB
• URL: Must be absolute (start with https://)
• Content: Avoid too much text — may get cropped
